October’s photo is from my Italian Travels collection. Photographed in San Marino; this small country inside of the Italian countryside boasts three castle towers atop it’s beautiful hills. Not only are these castle tower hills beautiful but they are stunning with the autumn leaves.

San Marino was a fascinating place for me to explore. The idea that an entire country is not much bigger than a city and fits inside of another country was intriguing to say the least. Not far from the popular beaches of Rimini, Italy, this small country has a far reaching history. It was interesting to see the differences between Italy and San Marino, for example the shopping was a little bit cheaper in this little country.

Visiting the castle towers, shopping, exploring the many views, and just walking around the city exploring was the highlights of the trip. Since the city is mostly on top of the hills, especially the castle towers, the views are reaching and beautiful. On a clear day you can see the beach in the distance.

This particular photo was taken from one hill with a great view of one the towers. Capturing a bit of San Marino’s charm with one of the castle towers lit up with the afternoon sun and trees with their autumn changing leaves decorating the grounds, I hope this photo shares part of the fascination that this country inspires.
